Ideas for photography

Moodboard of inspiration LO2

Copyright, Release and Consemt forms and Legal and Ethical LO2

Copyright is when you own a picture and it is your own. This is important because it means that no one else can use the picture and say that it's their's
Protects your intellectual property.
Gaining permission for any content you want to use that is not yours.

Release and constant form
This is a form that people sign so that you can use them in your picture and you can use the image in whatever way. The person or thing you taking a picture of giving you permission for them to be in the picture. The things that are on a release and consent form are the name of the model, the use of the picture, what you can do with the picture, the photographers name. You can also have a release and consent forms of location especially if it is privet property.
One thing that could affect me taking pictures in public places are the public, different religions, the age of the public e.g children, the use a telephoto lens because you could take a photo of someone without them knowing, taking pictures of companies/ logos due to copyright.

Legal and Ethical
thinking about representation, you have to be conscious of showing someone how they don't want to be represented e.g misrepresent, misrepresent companies, misrepresent religion or ethnicity or disabilities, breaking copyright, not discriminate people,

MARTIN.B (2014) Action http://www.bobmartin.com/indexbobmartinsite.html (4/2/15)

A) Photographic category
This photograph is in the category of sport, because it shows skiing which is a sport.

B) Purpose
The purpose was to document the sporting event and the competitors  skills in their sport. The photo is also used to promote the sport. Also the photo shows the audience the photographs skills and what they are capable of in sport photography. This picture could be in a sports magazine or used to promote the sporting event.

C) Image analysis D) Meaning
The picture looks dramatic because the skier is above the trees this indicates that they are high up. The photo is taken at a low angle this connotes dominance. The person falls on the crossing of the last vertical and the first horizontal line on the rule of thirds. This makes the composition balanced. All the objects in this photograph are silhouettes except for the lights. Because the person is in a silhouettes their outline is very sharp. When you look at the photo of the first time your eyes are drawn to the black silhouettes because it stands out. Then you look at the lights because that is the source of light in the picture.  Also it connotes that it is night time. Having the light and dark close they juxtapose each other. Each of them helps the other to stand out. The lights look brighter because of how dark the silhouettes is. The shutter speed would've been fast because the skier is mid air and the shot is a still. All of the light is coming from the big stadium lights. All the light is natural but it created by artificial lights. Because the picture is a motion the shutter speed would've been around 1/250th. The fast shutter speed makes the motion still. This connotes the danger in the sport.  The light is on the focal point based on the rule of thirds. This picture has a deep depth of field. This means the aperture would've been around f-2.8. This is show you can see all of the action. The IOS would've been 400 because it is a sport and it is clouds. This photo is landscape.

Bruce Weber
WEBBER.B (2013) Lifestyle http://www.bruceweber.com/ (4/2/2015)

A) Photographic category
This photo is in the fashion category because it is showing off the clothes and the style.

B) Purpose
The propose of this picture is to promote the clothes. It was taken for W magazine which is a american fashion magazine. So it would've been put in the magazine for the readers to see the clothes and be interested by them.

C) Image Analysis D) Meaning
The photograph is of two models hugging looking at the camera. The camera is just below their eye level but your eyes are drawn to them. Because the clothes they are wearing are dark so your eyes are drawn to the lighter parts of the photo. There is a light to the left side and the front, because of the light shadow on the older models right side. The light could be representative of the age of the models. The younger model has more light on her compared to the older model. Also having the age difference between the model creates a lot of juxtaposition. The clear complexion on the younger models face juxtaposes with the older models wrinkles. The picture is just cut off at their knees. This is probably because that wasn't needed in the picture also it may have distracted from the models faces and bodies. This picture was shot is a studio so all the lights would've been artificial. The picture is black and white this could connote age. But also it is stylish to have fashion photography in black and white. The two models are hugging this could connote that they have a personal bond and that they like each other. The smiles on their faces confirm that it is a sign of affection. The way the picture is composed makes it very soft and warming juxtaposing with the rough black and white. The women lie in the main focal point, this is because they are the most important thing in the picture. The depth of field is deep because all of the photograph is in focus. So an aperture like f-16 would've been used. The shutter speed 1/125th because there is no motion and it is idea for a still image. 200 would've bewn the IOS because it is light and studio lights are used., This photograph is portrait.

A) Photographic category                                                                                                                 This photography is  documentary becasuse it shows culture.
B) Purpose                                                                                                                                        The purpose is to show Kenya and the people that live there lives. So people that are not from there can know what the culture and what the lifestyle is like. This photograph could be used in a magazine about Kenya. Also it could be on a culture based website. So it could possibly used to educate.
C) Image analysis D) Meaning                                                                                                           The photograph has a deep depth of field because all of the photo is in focus. The most prominent thing in this photograph is the dog because it contrasts with the background. All the light in this photo is natural. You can tell because it was taken outside. The picture the framed so the child is in the centre, that's because the child is the focus of the photo. The dog in this picture is a pedigree. In other countries this dog would cost a lot of money. But the dog is in a county that doesn't have much wealth. Also the dog looks relatively clean and the boy has mud up his legs. This connotes that there is a lot of love for the dog and that they care for it more than they care for themselves. Also creates a lot of juxtaposition within the photo. This photo was taken at eye level. The fact that the boy has no shoes connotes that he doesn't have much money. Also the fact that the boy has his hand on his dog connotes that it is his dog. Because in the news people hear about how terrible things are going in third world countries. It's very simplistic to just have a boy and his dog. That relationship is very innocent. So it contrasts with all the bad in the area. The mud hut falls on the focal point. This photo has a deep depth of field because all of the photo is in focus. Due to this the aperture would've been small roughly f-16. The shutter speed would've been 1/125thh because it is a still image. The IOS would've been around 100 because it was a sunny day in the picture. The photo is landscape.

KAY.M (2014) portfolio http://www.mowiekay.com/ (4/2/2015)

A) Photographic category
This photo fit under the category of food photography. Also this could be an advert. This is because it is a photograph of cake.

B) Purpose
The purpose of this picture is to sell the food and make it look appetizing. This photo could go in cookery books as an example of how it should turn out or it could go in a food magazine.

C) Image analysis D) Meaning
The photograph on the left has the spoon with the same chocolate glazing to connote that it is freshly bakes. This makes it look more appetising. The lighting is supposed to look natural but the lighting has been created by soft boxes. The reason that there are two pictures is to try and show the cake off as much as possible. Also having a picture of the cake cut and one uncut. The aim of this was just to show the cake at different perspectives. The picture denotes old fashioned forks, a ragged cloth and clubs on the table. This connotes a rustic feel to the picture and makes the picture relatable because if someone made it at home they would get crumbs on the table. Also it connotes that the picture was taken at home in a kitchen and that it is easy to do. This will appeal to the audience.  When it was probably taken in a studio. Because it is easy to set up the lights and compose the photograph.  The first picture is a side view of the cake and the chocolate coating almost looks as if it is moving which makes it more appetising. Then the second picture is a high angle of the top of the cake cut up. This is to show how big the cake is. On the left photo the middle of the cake is on the focal point. The left picture has a shallow depth of field because it is the focus and the glass is not. So the aperture would've been around f-2. Also the shutter speed would've been around 1/125th because there is no motion. The picture on the right has a deep depth of field so the aperture would've been f-2.8 and the shutter speed is 1/125th. The IOS would've been around 200 because studio lights were used. Both of the photos are portrait.
